Event Description

At least 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted at some point in her life, as will 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys before they turn 18. Sexual violence is an epidemic that has long-lasting impacts, both on survivors and on our communities.  But, it is also a crime that can be prevented.

This day-long conference will address the epidemic of sexual violence: why it happens, who it impacts, and how we can stop it. We will reframe the discuss this issue, improve our response to survivors, and discover prevention strategies that actually work.

The conference is hosted by People Against Rape, the oldest sexual assault advocacy program in South Carolina, who has been serving survivors of sexual assault in the Tri-County area for 40 years.  Our speaker, Pamela Jacobs, is an attorney and advocate who has worked in the movement to end sexual violence for over twelve years.

We can end sexual violence in our communities.  But, we have to work together.  Will you join us?
